DESIGNATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
REALTORS® : As we already know from a previous page, “REALTOR vs Real Estate Agent”, that REALTOR® is a more fully trained agent than a Real Estate Agent,,, and has also sworn to uphold the Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice, as well as a REALTOR® can go beyond those wonderful basics and secure even more Professional Trade Designations such as:
ABR®: Accredited Buyer Representative
CRS®: Certified Residential Specialist
GRI: Graduate REALTORS Institute
e-Pro: Electronic Professional
SFR: Short Sales & Foreclosures
SRES: Senior Real Estate Specialist
There are more designations for Commercial Agents as well as others for Residential agents. The above seem to be the most prevalent. However, if your agent does not display any designations after their name, it is likely that they do not possess them. These Designations and Certifications are hard fought for and well deserved when earned, so a REALTOR® would be proud to display them. Do look for an agent with designations/certifications as it will bring more value to your transaction, no matter how small or large it may be, and at NO EXTRA COST to you…and perhaps even at a SAVINGS to you in that mis-steps are less likely to occur with a well trained agent who CARES about the services they provide, that shows they CARE about YOU! I hold all but one of the designations/certifications listed above to better serve you.
Also, BROKER and SALESPERSON LICENSES are a class of licensing with the State to practice real estate.
A Broker license allows them to open their own shop and practice under their own Brokerage. A Salesperson license must practice under another Broker’s license.
A Principle Broker is the Head Broker for the office. There may be several Brokers, but only one can serve as the Principle Broker.
